Include the ability to verify that the recorder is actually recording via a preview button - The last time we got something like this I left it to record for a few hours only to find it hadn't recorded anything.

Include a pause button - this would enable you to cut out the majority of the chatting in between music on the radio.

Be able to specify what file format recordings are saved as e.g. MP3, WAV, AIFF, RAW, FLAC, OGG, Vorbis etc and include the ability to record conversations via Skype, Teamspeak and Ventrillo.

Improve the level slider (i.e. include graphic equalizer and seperate channel sliders) and the ability to filter out unwanted noise, giving more control over the quality and volume of the recording

Include a wave form editor and filters (eg Dolby) to get rid of extraneous noises, include voice filters so that you can remove voice overs from the DJ's chatter.

Include a built in tagging system that searches the web for information on each song you record such as lyrics, who sang it, and album art, then sorts it into seperate folders based on categories the user specifies.

Being able to sort the captured.recorded music into different folders based on the artist, even the album it was originally recorded to, genre, year etc would make this more functional than similar programs of this type. I've...

Include a more functional timer that enables you to set more than one timed recording (would be great if you could also enable it to turn the computer on from standby)

If I wanted to record specific programs while I was away on vacation, it would be very useful for this program to be able to switch the computer on from standby to record as many recordings as I'd like over the period of the vacation.

Include LAN functionality so that live streamed music could be piped throughout the house via each computer. This would be brilliant for house parties.

This would require a preview facility so that you could hear what you were recording. Being able to filter out the chatter/ voice overs between music would be even better.

Include a more functional scheduler so that I can record my programs into separate folders based on genre, artist, album and programming schedules.

This would save a lot of time and remove the drudgery of having to sort all of the music I'd record from the radio into their various categories. Of course you'd have to be able to edit the program to include your own categories or...

Include a setting in the VAS mode that recognises speech so that you can pause recordings automatically. Also detect and pause long silences when using Skype, Ventrillo and Team Speak

You'd need to include a system that could toggle between speech and music. If i was recording music i'd like the voice overs to be removed, wheras if I was recording a conversation in skype etc, it would pause over long slilences, the pause...

How about a 'normalization' option during recording so audio isn't recorded too high (distortion/clipping) or too low (can't hear)

Most audio software allows recording but most do not automatically adjust sound volume to a desirable level. Instead of us having to constantly adjust recording level, how about designing a way to optimize the sound recording levels. For...

add support for various bit rates.

it would be nice if clips can be recorded in various bit rates (128kbps, 320kbps and so on). Also enable the option to show the current bit-rate at which a recording is made.
